Nomad Design Tackle, born from a lifetime of angling passion and engineering expertise, has redefined what it means to create high-performance, innovative fishing lures. What began in the late 1990s as a bold dream to build a world-class bluewater sportfishing charter off Australia’s Great Barrier Reef quickly evolved into a global legacy. Founder Damon Olsen envisioned an 80-foot mothership serviced by a fleet of sportfishing center consoles, accessible only by a multi-hour floatplane journey into the pristine Coral Sea — a concept never before attempted. By 2005, this dream became a reality, attracting anglers from across the globe seeking the ultimate fishing experience.
Years navigating the toughest fishing conditions on Earth exposed the limitations of traditional tackle. Frustrated, Damon combined his engineering expertise with real-world angling experience to develop durable, high-performance lures capable of withstanding the Coral Sea’s fierce predators. In 2015, this vision became Nomad Design Tackle, launching in Australia with a focus on innovation, quality, and performance.
By 2018, Nomad Design expanded to the United States, earning a global reputation with products like the DTX Minnow, Madmacs, Squid Trex, and Vertrex. Each lure is rigorously tested in extreme conditions, embodying Nomad’s philosophy: created by anglers, for anglers.
Continuing to push the boundaries of fishing technology, Nomad recently introduced a patent-pending tungsten weight system, setting a new standard in freshwater and saltwater fishing.
