Shimano Ledge Runner: one trolling plug, three running depths

The Ledge Runner is a hard-bodied diving plug built for offshore trolling. Its depth is set on the lure itself, so you can run it shallow, mid-depth or deep without changing your lead or adding weight. That makes it easy to stagger a spread and put baits right where the fish are holding, whether that is high in the water column over the reef or down along a ledge in deeper blue water.

How the depth adjustment works

  • ADR (Adjustable Depth Range): the line tie has three positions. The front eye (S) runs shallowest with a tight wiggle, the middle eye (M) runs at mid-depth with a balanced action, and the rear eye (D) digs deepest with a wider swing.
  • HCW (Hydro Control Wing): a stabilizing wing smooths the water flowing over the body, so the plug keeps tracking straight at higher trolling speeds instead of rolling out.
  • Built for big fish: a thick 3 mm body and a solid one-piece internal plate hold up to toothy fish and long fights.

Choose your size

Model Length Weight Action Hooks Max depth
160F 6.3 in (160 mm) 3 oz (85 g) Floating Two 4/0 trebles About 24 ft
200S 7.9 in (200 mm) 6 oz (170 g) Sinking Two 11/0 singles About 42 ft

The 160F is the versatile pick for kingfish, blackfin tuna, mahi and wahoo on a mixed spread. The 200S gets down fast and stays deep, with heavy single hooks for big wahoo and tuna at higher speeds.

Colors in the shop

  • Mai-Tai (160F): hot pink and orange. A loud, high-visibility color for bright days, stained water, and fish that want something they can spot from a distance.
  • Lightshow (160F and 200S): chartreuse head, blue back and pink belly flash. A strong all-around baitfish look in clear blue water.
  • Amethyst Spark (160F and 200S): purple body with a dark back and bright flash. It throws a bold silhouette at first light, at dusk and under clouds, and purple is a proven wahoo color.

Where it fits in South Florida and the Keys

  • Wahoo: troll the 200S fast along the edges and over humps from Miami down through the Keys, especially during the fall and winter run.
  • Kingfish: run the 160F on the middle eye along the reef line and color changes.
  • Blackfin and yellowfin tuna: stagger different depths behind the boat around humps and current breaks.
  • Grouper and ledge fish: set the deep eye and pull slowly along drop-offs and ledges to bring up fish holding near the bottom.

Shack tip: Run two Ledge Runners on different eye settings off the same side of the boat. They will sit at different depths and stay clear of each other on turns, so you cover more of the water column without tangles.
